Tues May 5: A city budget for the people

We are now in the middle of the City’s annual budget process. May 4th and 5th afford back-to-back opportunities to learn about the process, share your priorities and decide what to do. Monday, Supervisor Shamann Walton’s office is hosting an in-person District 10 Budget Town Hall at 5:30pm, Southeast Community Center, 1550 Evans Ave. Tuesday, Potrero Hill Democratic Club’s meeting at the Neighborhood House will feature a more activist take from the People’s Budget Coalition – see below.

PHDC monthly meeting Tuesday, May 5, at 7pm

In-person at Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro St @ Southern Heights

Anya Worley-Ziegmann of San Francisco People’s Budget Coalition will describe how we can work in solidarity for a budget that aligns with our values. While federal policies are slashing funds for crucial support services across the country, San Francisco is planning to balance its budget on the backs of our city’s working-class families, seniors, immigrants, community service providers and crucial climate action facilitators. These cuts, if passed, will leave deep scars on already underserved communities. Together, we’ll make sense of this historic budget moment and organize to protect the resources our communities rely on.
